Summer jobs: Here are openings (and pay rates) for NC students on school break

School’s (almost) out for the summer, and Triangle counties are posting summer job applications online.

Many counties have already recruited camp counselors, but lifeguards, swimming pool attendants and park aides are some popular jobs to snag locally during the hot months.

Just don’t forget your sunscreen.

When seeking summer jobs online, be sure to note the following:

  • Age requirements: Some jobs require you to be a minimum age. To be a lifeguard in Durham, for example, applicants must be at least 16 years old.

  • Hourly requirements: Many seasonal jobs are part time and do not come with benefits. Some park aides in Wake County, for example, work between 16 and 30 hours per week.

  • Diploma requirements: Some jobs listed online are not directed toward current high school students. Make sure you double check diploma requirements under ‘qualifications’ sections of job listings.
