Summer means cider, Pride Month, boat rentals and more

Welcome back to Streetwise! Can you believe we're through June already?

I can't, but there's good news heading into July: Oshkosh's first nano-cidery opens this weekend. Owners Doug Post and Spencer Morse have been working hard to create craft ciders at their production facility at 544 W. 17th St. Stop in between noon and 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday or Monday for a taste and to pick up a few bottles — there's no taproom.

Pride Month may be drawing to a close, but some Oshkosh business owners promote inclusivity year-round. I talked to the owners of Becket's, Caramel Crisp, Winners Sports Bar and Planet Perk about how they work to create a welcoming environment — and they're certainly not the only ones!

For those looking to spend more time on Oshkosh's waterways this summer, MidWest Rental Co. has you covered. The company operates in Fox Harbor Marina, a recently renovated public marina, and rents kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, pontoons — basically, whatever you need to soak up some sunshine on the water.

Other businesses are making moves: We know Exclusive Co.'s closing will leave a hole in Oshkosh's downtown, but there's good news. Great Estates Furniture has announced it'll move into the iconic building this fall.

Sadly, Planet Perk owner Ken Osmond said he's closing the location in the Rise and Grind co-working space, 240 Algoma Blvd. Its last day is today, June 30. Planet Perk's City Center location, though, is staying put.

Finally, have you been following along with my colleague Bremen Keasey's Miss Wisconsin coverage? Here's his latest story on Oshkosh's own Miss Wisconsin's Outstanding Teen.

Have a happy Fourth of July weekend, everyone!
