Summer programs at Dominy Library and Freedom Fest taking place

FAIRBURY — Summer Reading “Find Your Voice” program sign up began May 30.

Some activities this year include Broadcasts, Breakfast & Books, Miller Park “Zoo to You,” Backyard Birds, a pool party and prizes!

Dominy Library Summer Reading Program begins on June 5 and is open to patrons of all ages. Get all the details and get registered now at Dominy Library.

“Library Crawl”

Dominy Library is once again participating in the Tri-County “Library Crawl.”

Visit the Tri-County Area Libraries to collect stickers and win! There are 16 libraries in the Summer Challenge. The “Library Crawl” is a fun way to discover what is unique at each library and explore their communities.

Pick up your Library Crawl map at Dominy Library at 201 S. 3rd St., Fairbury.

“Small Art Show”

You have big ideas and big talent — we have a big room and need your art!

The Dominy Library “Small Art Show” is July through August! Pick up a mini art kit and create your masterpiece. Paint puppies, kittens, flowers, landscapes, still life or cartoon characters … whatever inspires you. When your art is completed, return it to Dominy Library to be part of the show.

Registration and pick up begins June 1 and your art needs to be returned to the library by Friday, June 30. Open to all ages.

Fairbury Freedom Festival

The annual Fairbury Freedom Festival, sponsored by Fairbury Echoes Museum & VFW Auxiliary, will take place on Saturday, June 10, at Marsh Park in Fairbury from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Part of the event will include children’s activities with the Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County. There will also be handcrafted wood toys to amuse young and old, as well as hit-and-miss engines on display. There will also be antique automobiles.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Twin Cities Brass Quintet from noon to 12:45 p.m. and from 1:30-2:15 p.m. The ARCulele Hour Ukelele Group will perform from 3-4 p.m. It is advised that attendees bring their own chair.

There will also be food available with the cuisine of Woody & Bubbas Food Truck and desserts from Home Charity Rebekah Lodge.
