Summer-ready calendar: Plan your week ahead with WNC Parent – June 9

Being ready for summer when you have children involves a lot of sunscreen, some imagination and a ready list of things to do. We can help with that last part. “Cinderella: Enchanted” is presented June 9 – July 2 at Flat Rock Playhouse. This is a fresh take on a timeless classic, for children and adults. For tickets, visit flatrockplayhouse.org/cinderella.

Free Community Day is noon – 5 p.m. June 10 at Asheville Art Museum. The event features free general admission. Add-on “Altruistic Genius” tickets are $7 each for members and $10 each for nonmembers. For details, visit ashevilleart.org.

The 53rd Annual Book Sale of the Brevard Branch of the American Association of University Women is June 10 – 14 at Brevard College. Proceeds support scholarships for local girls and young women. Summer Twilight in the Treetops night climbs are Saturday nights through Sept. 2 at Adventure Center of Asheville. Five of the park’s aerial trails are illuminated. Nature Center Night: A Buggy Evening is 9 – 10 p.m. June 14 at Highlands Nature Center. Experience the world of our smallest nocturnal creatures – insects. Learn to identify unique and beautiful insects then join naturalists to look for fireflies and nocturnal creepy crawlies in the Botanical Garden. Bring a flashlight for this adventure.
