For the first time in many years, New York baseball has defined our summer, with both the Mets and the Yankees having stellar seasons and possibly on track for a subway series.

For the Yankees, it has been a season of extremes. A slow start in the spring turned into a runaway summer and now a slog through August. Yankee beat writer Pete Caldera breaks down the moves that caused the Yankees late summer swoon.

For the Mets, late summer has proved to be a boon, as their winning streak has them atop their division. It also has us recalling the team's past successes, so Mets beat writer Andrew Tredinnick caught up with Mookie Wilson to get his take on things past, present and future for the 'Amazins.

Football fans have to be getting excited as well, with the start of the season just around the corner.

Giants beat writer Art Stapleton broke down who will be - and who won't be - on the roster this season.

And in New Jersey high school football, Darren Cooper tells us why it's North Jersey vs. South Jersey this year; why that is special; and what it means.

Be sure to check out all our great high school sports coverage, including the first football games of the season.

As summer winds down with Labor Day around the corner, I hope you are taking some time to relax and recharge before the busy autumn season is upon us.

Until next week, stay well and thanks for subscribing.
