In addition to those performers, Summerfest disclosed its evening programming for the Sound Waves Stage. Borrowing a page from the playbook of Milwaukee's indoor music venues, the festival is booking the new stage — which got a new identity after Johnson Controls ended its sponsorship — with DJ-powered themed nights from 7 p.m. to midnight each day.

For Summerfest's opening night, June 22, it'll be DJ Shawna, the Milwaukee Bucks' DJ, spinning discs under the theme "Women in Music — Dance Thru the Decades," with music inspired by pop performers such as Rihanna, Whitney Houston, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and more.

The rest of the Sound Waves lineup:

June 23: DJay Mando, "Pop Stars Takeover."

June 24: Mad Planet, "Retro '80s Dance Party."

June 29: BG Good, "Neon Rave Top 40 EDM Remix Party."

June 30: Lucky 7, "Baila Reggateon."

July 1: Non Pop!, "Hip-Hop, House, Funk and Dance Music."

July 6: City Lights, "New Wave Hip-Hop."

July 7: Mr. New York, "Lovers & Friends R&B Concert."

July 8: Sad Boy Saturday, "Emo Music Takeover."

All of the above performers and DJ sets are available with general admission to Summerfest.

Summerfest has to announce a headliner for July 6, the last remaining open date on the 2023 festival's calendar for the American Family Insurance Amphitheater.

The amphitheater headliners announced so far: Eric Church, June 22; Zac Brown Band, June 23; James Taylor, June 24; Dave Matthews Band, June 29; Odesza, June 30; A Boogie With Da Hoodie and Trippie Redd, July 1; Zach Bryan, July 7; and Imagine Dragons, July 8.
