Summit County offers free rides over Fourth of July weekend

Summit County will again offer free rides for those who have too much to drink to be able to safely drive home over the Fourth of July weekend.

Arrive Alive will offer rides through Lyft, a ride-sharing service, from 6 a.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

To request a ride of up to $20, use the code SUMMITJULY422.

The program is sponsored by Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh and Sheriff Kandy Fatheree.

“This is a time for celebration and to gather with friends and family,” Walsh said in a press release. “I do not want a fun event to end in tragedy.”’

Fatheree said deputies will be on the road over the weekend, watching for impaired drivers.

More than 3,000 people have gotten rides through Arrive Alive since Walsh started the program in 2018.
