Summit COVID Test Guide: Here's Where To Get Tested (Updated)

SUMMIT, NJ — With the recent uptick in positive COVID-19 cases across New Jersey and the country, tests have become increasingly in demand and more scarce.

According to the City of Summit, as of Thursday, Dec. 23 there were a cumulative total of 2,654 positive cases in Summit. Summit has an estimated population of 22,719.

Union County has reported 859 new cases as of Tuesday, Dec. 28.

The Summit Health Urgent Care Center in Westfield announced on Tuesday they will be temporarily closing in order to staff its sites, according to a Facebook post.

"Our urgent care centers in Berkeley Heights, Florham Park, and Livingston are open to continue serving your comprehensive urgent care needs," the post said. "We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding."

As an alternative option for COVID-19 testing, the New Jersey Department of Health recently began offering free at-home COVID-19 saliva test kits. UPS will ship the kit with next-day delivery, and a health care professional will virtually walk patients through the tests and answer questions.

Patients will receive test results 24 to 48 hours after the sample arrives at the lab. For more information about these tests, click here.
