The Indianapolis-based brewery, known for its award-winning beers, announced plans Tuesday to open a 5,000-square foot, family-friendly tap room on the northeastern side of the The Mill at Ironworks Plaza, 235 Ironworks Drive, next to Jack's Donuts and near Beutter Park. Operators anticipate opening the location by summer 2022.

The tap room will feature Sun King’s core, seasonal, specialty, barrel-aged and sour beers, with carry-out cans, growlers and kegs also available for purchase.

According to a news release, the location will also have a food hall-style restaurant with smash burgers from One Trick Pony and tacos from Cholita, both of central Indiana. The concept is through a partnership with Indianapolis-restaurateur Neal Brown and his company, Howe and Brown Hospitality Group, which currently operates the restaurant concepts in Sun King’s Fishers location.

“I grew up in neighboring South Bend, and my family and friends from the area have been asking me for years when Sun King will open a location in Northern Indiana,” said Dave Colt, Sun King co-founder and owner. “We are excited to expand access to our delicious beers to our great fans up north and to be a part of the Mishawaka community and The Mill at Ironworks Plaza.”

This will be the sixth Sun King location, with several locations in Indianapolis, as well as Fishers, Carmel and Kokomo.
