Chefs will turn products from McDonald's into gourmet dishes for a fundraiser for SHARP Literacy on Feb. 5 in Oconomowoc.

Dine out in Waukesha for literacy

Six chefs will give a gourmet twist to McDonald's ingredients at the SHARP Literacy fundraiser, which returns Feb. 5 to Waukesha.

Unwrapped Waukesha Edition will be 1 to 4 p.m. that day at Wisconsin Brewing Co. Park in Oconomowoc. It raises funds for what SHARP calls its STEAM-based educational programming (that's science, technology, engineering, art and math) for K3 through fifth-grade students and educators in five Waukesha schools.

Chefs will use their imagination and additional ingredients to turn products from McDonald’s into dishes from appetizers to desserts.

Among the chefs are Christina Burgarino Meiers of Albanese’s Roadhouse in Waukesha, Jeremy Chavez of Steel Tank Brewing Co. in Oconomowoc, and Roberto Alvarez and Tommie Hulman of Wisconsin Brewing Co. Park's concessionaire.

Wisconsin Brewing Co. is creating a custom hefeweizen beer that will be served at the event. The beer also will be sold at some Waukesha-area restaurants and bars to raise funds for SHARP.

Tickets are $50. They're available at Waukesha23.givesmart.com or by calling (414) 410-3204.

Wisconsin Brewing Co. Park is at 1011 Blue Ribbon Circle N., off Summit Avenue and Delafield Road. For more, see sharpliteracy.org.
