SunFest's Friday events: Kids Day, 5K race

Kids Day

Almost 200 special needs children and teenagers from local groups and schools will get to enjoy the festival grounds without the stress of large crowds. The music festival is overwhelming for many special needs children, so 15 years ago SunFest decided that they needed their own special day of activiteis.

The event allows for more inclusivity and opens doors for similar individuals to mingle while enjoying activities, games, music, crafts and food.

The event is from 10 a.m. to noon at the Meyer Amphitheater, 105 Evernia Street, West Palm Beach.

5K race

For those who are feeling motivated, the annual SunFest TGi5K run starts just south of Palm Beach Atlantic University on South Olive Avenue. Runners will go south before turning onto Flagler Drive to run into SunFest for the evening.

The $60 entry fee includes chip timing, a race shirt, admission to SunFest, post-race beer and medals for top finishers.

You can register for the race here.

Runners can pick up race packets Friday just south of Palm Beach Atlantic University at the intersection of Jefferson Road and South Olive Avenue from 4-5:15 p.m. The race begins at 5:30 p.m.
