Where will Orlando’s next SunRail station be built?
Plans are in the works to bring a SunRail station to the Orange County Convention Center.

Officials discussed the big plans to connect Orlando further during Thursday’s public transportation meeting.
FDOT said the commuter rail station would connect to the Orlando International Airport.
If the county approves this, it will link the convention center to the airport and boost the economy.
This change would also impact Orlando’s transportation in a big way.

Universal Orlando and Orlando’s Right Rail Coalition said they would help make this happen.
The county also created the Shingle Creek Transit Utility community development district.
This district will allow the community to build, pay and operate the new SunRail station without relying on taxpayer dollars.

Universal Orlando said it would push forward the Sunshine Corridor Program, which was announced last May.
According to a release, Universal Orlando said this would have significant economic benefits.

Once the project is completed, the station will provide crucial regional connectivity for residents, visitors and more than 100,000 local workers in the International Drive area.
The corridor will also connect to Brightline, which serves Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
Channel 9 has reached out to Orange County but said they do not have a comment currently.
