Suns' Cameron Johnson listed in HoopsHype's top 25 power forwards for 2022-23 season

Cameron Johnson has earned his place among the NBA's top power forwards.

The 6-foot-8 sharpshooting stretch four was listed 20th out of 25 in USA Today Sports' HoopsHype rankings released on Sunday, which analyzed players at that position.

Johnson was a Sixth Man of the Year finalist in his third season earlier this year. The Suns drafted him 11th overall out of North Carolina in 2019.

He produced career-high averages 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 46% field goal shooting, and the league's fourth-best 42.5% from beyond the arc.

"Johnson has proven the Suns to be savvy for the draft pick, however, as he has been an important part of some elite Phoenix teams since joining the squad three seasons ago," HoopsHype's Frank Urbina said.

"What’s more, with his feet set, Johnson was one of the most precise marksmen in the league last season, producing 1.25 points per possession (PPP) on spot-up-jump-shot opportunities, placing him in the league’s 94th percentile and good for the NBA’s seventh-best clip.

"On a team with stars up and down the starting lineup, Johnson’s shooting has proven to be pivotal, opening up the floor for the likes of Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton, as has his ability to defend multiple positions, albeit far from an elite level."

During last postseason, Johnson was Phoenix's fifth-best scorer at 10.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, shot 46.5% and a 37.5% clip from deep.
