MILLERSBURG − Whether a fan of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs or Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles, Super Bow LVII is sure to be a big day for area establishments as they play host to Super Bowl viewing parties where fans will their their favorite team on over good food in a fun environment.

Sports bars and restaurants, such as Buffalo Wild Wings (BW3) in Ashland and Wayne County, provide multiple screen viewing options, a fun atmosphere in which to watch the game, plenty of food and, best of all, no after-party cleanup, at least for the guests.

This year, a special offered at BW3 is, if the game goes to overtime, everyone in America gets six free wings.

Rick Small, marketing director for BW3 in Ashland and Wooster, said Super Bowl Sunday is one of the bigger days of the year, not only for coming into the restaurant to enjoy the atmosphere, but for carryout as well.

"One anomaly that has sort of surprised me is carryout is king on Super Bowl Sunday," Small said. "More people are actually carrying out than dining in. We still get healthy dine-in crowds, but carryout just explodes on that day."

The director suggested getting orders in early. In fact, Blazing Rewards members will get six free wings for placing orders early. That enables the company to stagger orders and reduce backups on game day.

"We have 53 Buffalo Wild Wings locations in six states," Small said. "We go through weekly calls starting three weeks before the Super Bowl with all of our general managers, sharing best practices and glean off of other stores that have had great success. Last year was a well-oiled machine across the board."

Small pointed out each of the BW3 stores will move between 4,000 to 4,500 wings on Super Bowl Sunday.

BW3 on East Main Street in Ashland is a hot spot on Super Bowl Sunday with nearly a dozen televisions to watch, along with =food and spirits.

General Manager Lance Ray says Super Bowl Sunday is annually the biggest day of the year for the sale of wings, plus the restaurant offers several bundle packages of a variety of dining options.

Manager Dave Schwartzwalder of Linder's Sports Bar & Grill on West South Street in Ashland, adds Super Bowl Sunday is one of those days that is like a blessing and a curse.

He said they start filling up early and the kitchen is extremely busy cooking up wings.

"We usually have some sort of wings and fries special, but with the price of wings these days, it's hard to say," Schwartzewalder said. "We have to set up a schedule because our fryers are only so big. We can only do so many per half hour. We start getting orders for Sunday on Saturday, and we kind of work around it."

But it's a good problem to have.

"We have 10 TVs in house," he added. "It's a great atmosphere to watch the game. It can be very stressful, but it's always a good time."

Especially if it's a close, exciting game.

Beef O'Brady's on Henry Street in Wooster is set up with plenty of televisions for watching the game, along with dining specials and beverages, but owner Michelle Holcomb isn't quite sure what to expect as they are relatively new kids on the block, having opened last summer, and this is their first Super Bowl.

"We are excited about the Super Bowl. We have some exciting specials to offer," Holcomb said. "We have no comparable sales to compare it to, but we're set up for reservations and walk-ins, and all of our TVs will be airing the game."

Avoid the crowds at Bags Sports Pub

At Bags Sports Pub in Millersburg, manager Taylor Kauffman doesn't expect too big of a crowd for the big game, but there are plenty of viewing options along with food and drinks available at the East Jackson Street establishment.

With seating at the bar and in the dining area, and TVs to accommodate both areas, Bags Sports Pub in Millersburg provides a fun atmosphere with great food to watch the Super Bowl.

"Being in Amish Country, not a whole lot of places are open on Sundays, so not a lot of people are out and about," she said. "That, along with people having their own Super Bowl parties at home keeps our crowds kind of small. We're pretty much the only bar open on Sunday in this area."
