Superfan meets actress from popular show ‘The Office’ at Wichita sporting goods store

Jessica Williams is a big fan of the comedy show “The Office” but she didn’t ever think she would meet one of the actors from the show — and certainly not at Scheels in Wichita.

But that’s what happened.

The 34-year-old Newton woman was doing some last-minute Christmas shopping Thursday afternoon with her husband when she spotted someone who looked like actress Angela Kinsey, who plays Angela on the show.

Her husband, Ryan, said it couldn’t be.

She looked on Instagram and saw Kinsey post that she was in Kansas.

Williams stayed close by until she heard one of the people the woman was with call her Angela. And then another person walked up to her crying in excitement and hugged her.

Then Williams was sure.

“I tapped her on the shoulder and said, ‘Is it really you?’” Williams said. “I wish I would have said something cooler. I was just shocked. And her family started laughing.”

Williams asked for a photo. She was shaking too badly to take it, but Kinsey grabbed her phone and took a selfie of them.

Kinsey was wearing a Christmas sweater and beanie.

“She was awesome,” Williams said. “She was so wholesome and kind. She wasn’t dolled up … She just looked like a regular shopper.”

“The Office” was on TV from 2005-2013. Williams said she and her husband have watched the entire show multiple times, including the “Superfan Episodes” on Peacock that have additional footage.

Kinsey, 52, played an accountant on the show.
