KEY DISCUSSION The increases "follows along" with the raises given to teachers, Zach Truax, president of the board, said on Wednesday, in the agreement approved by the board with the Ashland City Teachers Association at a special June 6 meeting.

"We like to wait until all the negotiations are done," Truax said, "and we try to keep the administrators on the same plan."

Marrah's salary will now be $170,985 a year, while Klingler's will be $86,700.

OTHER DISCUSSION

The board heard an update on construction projects ongoing in the district.

Truax reviewed them on Wednesday.

"Materials are still coming in for the high school," he said, including those needed for the refurbishment of old windows. New lockers are also being installed. Any part of the project not finished before school starts can easily be "knocked out" while school is in session, he said.

Ashland Community Stadium entrance project, encompassing ADA-compliant bathrooms and an up-to-date concession stand, is progressing well, Truax said.

Also, the old track has been removed, and a new one is being put in.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

1. Permanent appropriations were approved for FY22 to finish out the year, and "no significant changes were made from initial budgets," Klingler said in an email on Wednesday.

2. An extra professional work day was added to the original school calendar as part of teacher negotiations, "so the calendar was altered slightly, mainly starting school one day earlier," Klingler said.

3. The board approved the purchase of 1,525 Chromebooks and Google software licenses.

"All students have access to a device; this purchase is to replace existing Chromebooks (for which the) service warranty is expiring and (they) can no longer be used for state testing," Klingler said in his email.
