Superman prequel Krypton is cancelled, and there's more bad news
Krypton fans have had a pretty rough start to their weekend.
The Superman prequel has only just wrapped up its second season in the US two days ago, but Syfy has already sped up the destruction of Superman's home planet.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Syfy has cancelled Krypton because season two was only averaging about 400,000 viewers — a steep decline from the average of 1.8 million who watched the first season when DVR figures and three-day viewing was factored in.
Not only has Krypton been prematurely cancelled, Syfy has also dropped its plans to make a spin-off based around second season guest star Emmett J Scanlan as intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo.
We'd hate to be the Syfy executive who has to break that news to The Main Man! Krypton star Cameron Cuffe — who played Superman's grandfather Seg-El — actually seemed to take the show's axe fairly well in a Twitter post.
Alongside a photo of himself holding a cape with the El family crest, he wrote: "What I feel above all is gratitude. I spent 3 years living an impossible dream.
"I will always be a proud son of Krypton. Keep believing in a better tomorrow."

Fans weren't as chill about the news, especially since the show won't have a proper ending as it stands. You guessed it — a hashtag has been born:

Sorry but #Krypton deserves so much fucking better. It’s one of the few shows that I’ve loved watching as it’s gotten stronger and stronger each week with both seasons. The characters, the cast and the story deserved to be seen through. Come on @netflix @PrimeVideo #SaveKrypton pic.twitter.com/4y5IvaOoVM

Just heard @KryptonSYFY has been cancelled after two seasons.
This is totally out of order and HOPE another network can pick up!
Season 2 ends on a great high and is a bloody brilliant show!! #SaveKrypton #Krypton @thecameroncuffe @CamWelsh_ @SSIPOS @wallisday pic.twitter.com/IS4UVAhJ0P— DC WORLD (@_DCWorld) August 16, 2019
It’s truly devastating to me as a fan that Krypton was cancelled after only 2 seasons. Krypton had so much potential at being the best DCTV show ever. Now we won’t get a third season unless the show is picked up by another network. #SaveKrypton #RenewKrypton #PickUpKrypton pic.twitter.com/VwhlRjKm7e

if ANYONE sees this, even if you don’t watch it (you 100% should tho!!!) PLEASE just tweet #SaveKrypton - an insanely good show has just been unfairly cancelled, and we refuse to let it end like this.

Don't give up hope yet! There are already reports that Warner Bros has started shopping Krypton and Lobo around for a revival, with the DC Universe or HBOMax streaming services being potential homes.
Krypton originally aired on Syfy in the US. E4 airs the show in the UK.
