Supermarkets Shelves Empty in Flood-Hit British Columbia
Grocery stores in British Columbia reported food shortages after torrential rains hit the area. This footage, filmed in Kelowna, British Columbia, on November 16, shows empty store shelves.
According to supermarket chain IGA, the “weather challenges” were responsible for the limited stock.
According to some reports, however, panic-buying is also a factor. “Please – buy only what your family needs at this time,” another supermarket company, Save-On-Foods pleaded on Twitter.
Hundreds were displaced and multiple roads were temporarily closed due to the heavy flooding and mudslides brought on by an atmospheric river.
