Supernatural star to reprise her role on prequel The Winchesters

Supernatural prequel The Winchesters is bringing back Ruth Connell's sorceress Rowena.
Entertainment Weekly revealed the news and confirmed that Connell is set to guest-star in next week's (February 28) penultimate season 1 episode.
Fans of the original fantasy sensation will recall Rowena's self-sacrifice in the fifteenth and final season, aiding brothers Sam and Dean Winchester's plight to save the world, before later cropping up as the new ruler of Hell.

Ahead of the wicked witch's tantalising comeback, her official character description reads: "A natural-born witch with immense power, Rowena has been outwitting all who wish her ill since the 17th century — even death itself.
"Be it magic, vengeance, or a fine vintage wine, Rowena always gets what she wants — and no friend or foe can stand in her way."
This comes after The Winchesters executive producer and star Jensen Ackles suggested the team was desperate to reel in some Supernatural friends back in October.
"If there is any opportunity to bring anybody back from the mothership, we will absolutely do so. We will write to that. We have names that are on the table of like, 'How can we get to this [person in a way] that makes sense?'" he said.

"I think the fans will be cool if we bring an actor that played a certain famous character on the show to come and do something different.
"We were recycling guest stars by the dozens after season 8 because Vancouver's only so big and there's only so many people in the talent pool. I think if we do that with fan-favourite actors that played fan-favourite characters, I feel like we're safe there."
Mission accomplished.
The Winchesters airs every Tuesday on The CW in the US. Broadcast details for the UK are still to be confirmed.
