Supernatural season 15: Everything you need to know

It's official: Supernatural is returning for season 15. While we're stoked it's been renewed, the news is bittersweet, as season 15 will be its last.
The fantasy show exploded on to our screens back in 2005 and has totted up an impressive 307 episodes during its time on air.
But all good things must come to an end, and it's time to say goodbye. So, how will it choose to wrap up one last time? Here's everything you need to know about Supernatural season 15.
Supernatural season 15 cast: Who will be in it?
Naturally, Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) will all be back for one last hurrah.
Collins shared an emotional letter on Twitter following the announcement that season 15 would be the show's last, opening up about how his life has "changed forever".
"What was supposed to be a small part lasting a couple of episodes on a genre TV show turned into over a decade of my career," he wrote. "I had no idea that when I stepped onto that set for what I thought was a simple acting gig, I was actually being welcomed into a family – not just a cast-and-crew family (though certainly that – I've found some of my closest friends in Jared, Jensen, & so many others in our cast and crew), but in all of you... our SPNFamily.
"In the last 11 years, we've been through so many profound moments together. Our crew and cast have been through a lot of struggles, several people passed away, other people got divorced or faced serious health problems... but we've also watched one another get married, have children, and find great personal success.
"There's been a lot to mourn and a lot to celebrate. And with you, the greater Supernatural Family, we've had similar losses and triumphs. We've seen so many good people succumb to illness (mental and physical), we've seen some of you find new jobs, new families, and new genders. In short, it's been a lifetime.

"We have also done some really cool things together. Together, we've built an orphanage and a school, rescued refugees, fed hungry children, saved endangered species, and helped people experiencing homelessness or struggling with mental health issues. (There's no doubt in my mind that this is the kindest fandom in history.)
"We've played games, created art, and fought for political change. I've watched so many of you grow, and you've watched over our kids as they were born and grew, too... And they've been lucky enough to find themselves in a world filled with the warmth of your embrace, their millions of half-cousins-once-removed.
"It's the first days of my last-ever Supernatural hiatus. When we go back after the break, we'll do everything in our power to give you an incredible season you deserve, one more time.
"We're at the threshold of an ending – but remember, all 'endings' are really just a beginning in disguise. We may have been brought together by this show, but we're all family now – and that's not going anywhere. We've already impacted the world for the better... and we're just getting started.
"From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for adopting me into the #SPNFamily. I'll never stop being grateful, and can't wait to see what's coming next for us... together."

We also know that Alexander Calvert will be back as Jack Kline. But how much of a role he will play remains to be seen. What's more, both The Shadow and The Empty will play a part in the final season.
There's also speculation that Kathryn Newton will rejoin as Claire Novak.

Supernatural movie: Will there be one?
Exec producer Robert Singer teased the possibility, telling Digital Spy at San Diego Comic-Con on July 21: "I don't think it's a pipe dream. But I think, generally, when they make a movie of a TV show, there's a certain time lapse between the two… So I'm certainly not ruling it out.
"It's something I'd be interested in. I think the boys would probably love to do it. But right now, we're just trying to get through this [final] season and do it in a way that people will be happy with it."
We're taking that as a yes, its definitely happening, and we're all invited to the premiere with free pick'n'mix... fingers crossed.
Supernatural online: Where can I watch the show?
If you live in the US, you can catch Supernatural on The CW. But for those of you in the UK, E4 is your go-to, with episodes available to stream on All4.
And if you have Amazon Prime Video, seasons 1-13 are also available to view.

The final season will have 20 episodes, and it will air on Thursdays at 8pm (ET).
Supernatural season 15 release date: When will it be back?
Fans were worried that the show would end with season 14 when it was revealed that it was going to be a slightly shorter offering.
We now know that this next chapter will be its last, and it will hit screens on Thursday, October 10 on The CW, kicking off with an episode called 'Back and to the Future'.
The opener was revealed by The CW, and is set to see Sam, Dean and Castiel dealing with the immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse that was unleashed on Earth – not to mention a whole lot of other drama in between.
Per the official synopsis: "Picking up here we left off last season, Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) are left to defend the world after all the souls in hell have been released and are back on Earth and free to kill again."
Off-screen, Padalecki did reveal to Digital Spy his concerns about not being able to see his nearest and dearest as much as he would like because of filming: "I just know I want to see my family more. If it gets to the point where the network says they need at least 15 [episodes], or 18, or we can't do less than 20, then that's a question we'll figure out at the end of this year."
But if shorter seasons were the way forward, Padalecki would definitely be game for that: "That'd be just like heaven – we'd go for 30 more seasons if we did that.
"We did talk about it. That was a big discussion with the network and the studio... but mainly the network, because they're the ones who need the content, in order to sell it."
Ackles will also be doing a spot of directing in the final chapter (he's done it before), working behind the camera for the first episode they film, episode four.

Supernatural season 15 trailer: When can I watch it?
The first trailer is here, people. And it looks like the Winchester boys have their work cut out for them, as they're forced to battle against all of the ghouls, goblins and ghastly beasts that they'd already sent to hell.
It's potentially the most fitting swan song for the show – although that doesn't necessarily spell a happy ending for our leading duo.
As Padalecki shared at San Diego Comic-Con this year about the pair, "I feel like what I envisioned for Sam and Dean, I always said I wanted them both to die… I think that was my way of saying I want them to achieve peace."
