Which superstar could the Texas Rangers acquire before the MLB trade deadline?

The Texas Rangers are the leaders in the AL West with a record of 52-39 but are still looking to make improvements.

With the loss of Jacob deGrom to a season-ending injury the Rangers could be looking for another starting rotation arm and have already been linked to Lance Lynn of the Chicago White Sox according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

On Thursday ESPN’s Buster Onley was on “Get Up’ and discussed where Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani could be sent if he was traded before the trade deadline.

Onley listed three teams by name, the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays and the Texas Rangers.

Ohtani would help further strengthen a Ranger’s rotations which is already one of the best in the Majors. This season Ohtani’s gone 7-4 with a 3.32 ERA with 132 strikeouts in 100.1 innings of work.

Ohtani’s bat has also been one of the MLB’s best, Ohtani has been slashing .302 with 32 home runs, 71 RBIs and 63 runs. Ohtani’s 32 home runs lead the majors.

Few players have been better than Ohtani since he entered the MLB, in six seasons he’s had three all-star selections, a Rookie of the Year award and an MVP award in 2021.

It is important to note that Ohtani is a free agent at the end of this season so any team trading for would have to either consent to a rental or be confident they could get him to sign long-term.

The MLB trade deadline is on Tuesday, Aug. 1.
