‘Superstars’ to bring award-winning illusions to Modesto. Here’s when and where

Night of magic

“Superstars of Magic” brings five award-winning Las Vegas illusionists and entertainers to the Gallo Center, performing magic, comedy and variety. The show is from the producers of the CBS TV special “Magicians’ Favorite Magicians,“ presented in a live performance based on that program.

Weekend with Picasso

“A Weekend with Pablo Picasso” is presented by L.A. Theatre Works. The one-man show coming to the Gallo Center is based on Picasso’s writings. Herbert Sigüenza plays the artist in his private studio for as he prepares to deliver six new works to a buyer. The production features large video projections of the art being created, along with historic images and text.

Clean comedy

Comic Brad Upton will perform his clean comedy show in a benefit for the Modesto Rotary Club. Upton will appear at the Gallo Center, where he’s performed in past years opening for Johnny Mathis.

Blue Note anniversary

The Blue Note Quintet brings the 85th anniversary celebration of legendary jazz label Blue Note Records to the Gallo Center. Gerald Clayton leads the band as musical director and pianist, along with vibraphonist Joel Ross, saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, drummer Kendrick Scott and bassist Matt Brewer.

“Evening Of Black Joy”

An “Evening of Black Joy” offers an opportunity for Black men and women, ages 12 to 26, to showcase their talents during Black History Month. Performers from Stanislaus County will vie in the talent show at the State Theatre for a chance to win up to $1,000.

The Youth For Christ Comedy Night at the State Theatre brings in three comedians in a comedy club-style event. The clean show features Dennis Gaxiola, Jeanette Marin and Jay Rich.

Almond blossom fest

The Ripon Almond Blossom Festival returns with food, a carnival, a parade, vendor booths, live music and more. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in downtown Ripon.
