Supplies unaffected by Houthi attack: Saudi Aramco
Saudi Aramco said on Tuesday (November 24) its domestic fuel supplies were not affected by an attack from Yemen's Houthi group on its plant in the north of Jeddah city.
Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi forces on Monday said they fired a missile and struck the facility. Saudi authorities later confirmed the attack.
Aramco's oil production and export facilities are mostly in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, over 620 miles from Jeddah.
The facility's manager Abdullah al-Ghamdi at Aramco's North Jeddah Bulk Plant told journalists on a tour that one of the 13 tanks used for diesel oil, gasoline and jet fuel is currently out of action.
"The damaged part is almost two-meter by two-meter hole in the roof of the tank and that's the only thing we can see so far. Once we assess the situation and make a safe access to the tank we can see and assess the magnitude of the damage."
He described the site as a "critical facility" with total storage capacity of 5.2 million barrels. It can distribute more than 120,000 barrels of products per day domestically to Jeddah, Mecca and the al-Baha region.
He added that a fire caused by the missile attack was extinguished in around 40 minutes with no casualties.
Also on Tuesday, Saudi state TV reported that the Saudi-led coalition had destroyed five mines laid by the Yemen's Houthi group in the Red Sea.
The channel said the mines are of the Iranian-made 'Sadaf' type.
