Supply chain management company Surgere set to grow after aligning with investor

GREEN – Surgere, a supply chain management company, has received a minority growth equity investment from Graham Partners, a private firm that invests in technology-driven companies.

The investors hope to help Surgere expand marketing resources and drive increased sales, Adam Piatkowski, managing principal at Graham Partners Growth, said in a press release announcing the investment.

Piatkowski said Graham Partners Growth — the investment firm's growth equity strategy — believes Surgere is "well positioned in a high-growth industry niche." Surgere used technology and equipment to help original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers track materials in supply chains.

Surgere has customers in the automotive, industrial manufacturing, aerospace, and agribusiness markets, as well as other industries. The company uses a variety of processes to collect data that helps customer predict short- and long-term supply chain needs.

The sensor-based techniques used by Surgere helps a customer "see" inventory, map the supply chain and identify weaknesses or opportunities for improvement.

Graham believes Surgere is at the forefront of automated supply chain tracking technology that can help customers move out of manual tracking or materials into an automated Internet-of-Things system.

An example is Surgere's returnable container tracking abilities that help clients reduce costs by eliminating non-reusable packing — corrugated boxes for example — using returnable containers.

Using its technology, Surgere can fulfill a customers demand for supply chain visibility and traceability, said William Wappler, chief executive officer and company founder. Partnering with Graham will accelerate growth for Surgere, Wappler said.

Surgere is headquartered in Green and has an office in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The company said it works with clients at more than 1,600 locations in 26 states and 31 other countries.

Wappler started the company in Lake Township in 2004, and relocated to Green in 2012. Graham Partners formed in 1988 and is based in Philadelphia.
