How are we supposed to choose among these epic Grammy nominations for Song of the Year?

This morning, November 20th, the nominations for music’s biggest night—the 62nd annual Grammy Awards—were announced by Alicia Keys and Bebe Rexha. And wow, these categories stacked. On Sunday, January 26th, 2020 our fave musical artists will convene in the Staples Center in Los Angeles to see which stars reign supreme.

How the heck are we supposed to pick favorites when all our idols are up for awards?

The 2020 Grammys will honor artists in 84 categories, each of which range across several genres of music—from pop and rap to country and blues. And although we’re proud of everyone who received a nomination in all categories, our eyes are glued to the nominees in the top four: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist.

For example, the nominations up for Album of the Year are big names:

• Cuz I Love You (Deluxe) by Lizzo—who is the most-nominated artist this year with eight nominations

• Bon Iver’s I, I

• Lana Del Rey’s Norman F***ing Rockwell!

• Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

• Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next

• H.E.R.’s I Used To Know Her

• Lil Nas X’s 7

• Vampire Weekend’s Father Of The Bride.

And Lizzo’s song “Truth Hurts” is battling against “Hey, Ma,” by Bon Iver, “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish, “7 Rings” by Ariana Grande, “Hard Place” by H.E.R., “Talk” by Khalid, “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, and “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee for Record of the Year.

Then we have an almost-all-female nomination list for Song of the Year.

• Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way”

• Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy”

• Tanya Tucker’s “Bring My Flowers Now”

• H.E.R.’s “Hard Place”

• Taylor Swift’s “Lover”

• Lana Del Rey’s “Norman F***ing Rockwell”

• Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts”

• Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved”

We’re also freaking out about Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, and Maggie Rogers going up against Black Pumas, Rosalía, Tank And The Bangas, and Yola for Best New Artist. Seriously, though. Who do we root for?

What we can definitively say is that we’re more than pleased with the fact that women flooded every single nom for Best Pop Solo Performance.
