CHEBOYGAN — Students from across Northern Michigan will get the chance to see the Michigan Supreme Court in action on April 26 when a real court case is set to take place at the Cheboygan Opera House.

The case is being brought to Northern Michigan as part of the Court Community Connections Program, which is a public education program aimed primarily at high school students. This will be the 27th time the Supreme Court has traveled to hear a case at another location.

The Supreme Court Justices are expected to hear oral arguments in Case No. 163700, People of MI v. Candace Guyton. Following the oral argument, chief commissioner Daniel Brubaker will lead a debriefing session for students that includes the appellant and appellee attorneys.
