The Supreme Court overturned its landmark Roe v. Wade decision on Friday. The decision reverses nearly 50 years of federal abortion protection.
In Texas, a trigger law that outlaws abortion at any point in pregnancy is set to go in effect as a result of the ruling. Texas is one of about 26 states expected to ban the procedure outright.
In the wake of the ruling, politicians, activists and other Texas leaders responded on social media. Here's a look at their statements:

the Supreme Court says "The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. The Court overrules those decisions and returns that authority to the people and their elected representatives."

In overturning Roe v. Wade, SCOTUS has propelled women back to a time where their bodies were not their own to control and where their self-determination was less than those of sperm donors. #txlege @TXHouseWHC
