Surgeon general Jerome Adams: Federal guidelines are ‘a national stay-at-home order’

Dr. Jerome Adams, the U.S. surgeon general, tells TODAY the federal government’s “30 Days to Slow the Spread” guidelines amount to “a national stay-at-home order” even though 17 states have still not issued such orders. He says the government is working with governors “to try to come up with a better way” to get badly needed ventilators. He says “sobering” projections of coronavirus deaths “don’t have to be our reality” if people work together.
