Surprise! Shay Mitchell is expecting her first child months after revealing miscarriage

Shay Mitchell is revealing a pretty little big secret.

The "Pretty Little Liars" star, 32, announced on Instagram and YouTube Friday that she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Matte Babel, 38.

"Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the car pool lane at all times now?" she joked, captioning a topless maternity shot that showcased her growing baby bump.

Mitchell's pregnancy announcement comes just five months after the actress revealed that she suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.

In a YouTube video, titled "Guess Who's Preggers," the actress detailed the lengths she went to hide this pregnancy early on, describing it as a "really lonely journey."

Mitchell said she was ready to debut her baby bump when she "couldn't hide it anymore and was tired of wearing oversized sweatshirts."

On New Year's Day, Mitchell revealed on her Instagram Story that she miscarried, sharing a picture of a sonogram with a broken heart emoji.

"We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life," she wrote. "The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams."

She continued: "In the spirit of the new year, I think that we need to remember that we are all on this journey together—in good times and in bad—and to remind ourselves that we seldom really know or understand the struggles and hardships that other people are going through. So, for 2019, let’s all try to be a little more compassionate, empathetic, patient, and thoughtful with each other."
