New surveillance video details released on Roxbury woman missing for several weeks

A Roxbury school teacher missing since June 7 was recorded by surveillance cameras as she exited her vehicle in a Mount Arlington hotel parking lot alone "and of her own free will," authorities said Wednesday as a multiagency search continues.

As the search intensifies for Lara Emanuele, 46, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally and Roxbury Police Chief Dean Adone on Wednesday released additional details of the investigation "in the interest of transparency as there has been a great deal of inquiry related to this case."

The search for Emanuele, a teacher in the Roxbury school system, has been centered on the forested Berkshire Valley State Wildlife Management Area and areas around the North Arlington Holiday Inn Express on Howard Boulevard. Emanuele’s vehicle was found in the parking lot there on June 8. Her cell phone was found in the vehicle.

Emanuele’s disappearance is not considered suspicious, Carroll stated, but added: "There is concern for her well-being."

"We know Ms. Emanuele was a special person, evident in the outpouring of support and offers to help this casehas generated," Carroll stated in the update. "Regrettably, her disappearance has also spawned rumors and speculation on social media, spread by people falsely claiming to represent law enforcement."

She was reported missing on June 7 after she did not return home from work, authorities stated.

The investigation so far has included a review of video surveillance from multiple sources, a review of digital communications, canvassing in several locations, interviews and other standard procedures.

“We understand that this is a difficult time for Ms. Emanuele’s family and the Roxbury Alexander Hamilton School communities," Carroll stated. "Out of respect and consideration for Emanuele’s family, there will be no further comment on the details of this investigation.”

Search resources deployed to the area include includes officers, multiple K-9s, trained civilians and technical assistance such as drones. The search is in addition to a comprehensive investigation on the part of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office's Missing Persons Unit, Roxbury Police Department and assisting agencies.

Other agencies assisting the case include the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit, New Jersey State Police K-9 Unit, New Jersey Search and Rescue, Middle ex County Prosecutor’s Office K-9, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9, Pennsylvania Search and Rescue and the Conservation Police.
