How does one measure perfection?

A pitcher hurls a complete game without a runner reaching base either by hit, base-on-balls or error.

A bowler rolls 12 consecutive strikes in a single game.

A student correctly answers every question on a test.

Historical weather data suggests Saturday will be Illinois’ most perfect day of the year, according to the vacation planner Family Destinations Guide.

The company analyzed 36 years worth of data to come up with the date on which each state can expect to experience the most perfect day of the year based on predicted sunshine, high temperature and length of daylight.

So, what can we expect weather-wise on Saturday in the Land of Lincoln?

The National Weather Service forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 90 degrees and a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Everything except the rain probably sounds ideal to most Midwesterners. Regardless of how Saturday turns out, the Rock River Valley is in full-on summer mode with long, sunny days, slightly less rain than average in June and slightly more in July.

So what would you do on a picture perfect day?

Taylor Larson, of Rockford, discussed her favorite activities on a picturesque summer day while enjoying the sunshine Tuesday morning with her five-month-old son, Liam.

“I enjoy reading at the park or going for a walk and just being anywhere outside,” she said. “It’s the best thing to do.”

Larson’s friend, Rebekah Theis, of Davis Junction, was with her soon-to-be two-year-old son, Lawrence, when she weighed in on how she would take advantage of a perfect weather day.

“Anything that will wear my son out,” Theis said. “We go to the park. He likes taking walks. I enjoy pretty much anything that tires him out and gets him ready for a nap.”

John Sams, of Rockford, just completed a two mile walk on the bike path when he said Saturday's forecast is right up his alley.

“My ideal weather day is sunny and breezy,” he said. “I’ll just sit by the river and relax and then I go back home and lounge around. I’m a retiree so I don’t have to work anymore.”

FamilyDestinationsGuide.com has created an interactive map so that readers can see which location in the U.S. will experience its most perfect day of 2022.

“No one wants a vacation spoiled by rain and gloomy skies,” said Rose Ackermann of FamilyDestinationsgGuide.com said in a news release. “We hope our research gives people across the country the best chance of getting great weather when going on their vacations.”
