Could this be the final week of Music City Survivor League?

After nearly two months of football bet-placing, two Music Row hitmakers remain in the chase for this year's crown: "Truth About You" singer-songwriter Mitchell Tenpenny and "Prayed For You" chart-topper Matt Stell.

The singers survived a week six upset that saw semi-finalists exit the league: Lainey Wilson and Brooke Eden. Both fell victim to Tom Brady and the Buccaneers' choking loss against an otherwise struggling Pittsburgh Steelers team backed by rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett and journeyman Mitchell Trubisky. Wilson departs after a 5-0 start that put her in the lead for much of this survivor season.

What's next? Not to be hyperbolic, but the stakes couldn't be higher. Both singers enter week seven with one loss. Another wrong pick equals elimination for either player.

This week, Stell puts his fate in the same Buccaneers team that failed Wilson and Eden last Sunday. He believes Brady and company should bounce back against the messy Carolina Panthers (you know, the team that literally had a player quit mid-game last week).

"Tom Brady will have his O-line ready to dominate the reeling Panthers, and in doing so end [Tenpenny's] hopes and dreams," Stell said ahead of this week's game. "Sorry bro.”

Meanwhile, Tenpenny rides a hot hand by taking the New York Giants - an unexpected contender at 5-1 this season - to beat a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars club.

About the Tennessean's Music City Survivor League

Country music fandom and NFL nerd-ery collide with the inaugural Music City Survivor League, a bragging rights tournament for the biggest football geek on Music Row. Artists pick one team a week each week of the NFL season. If that team wins or ties? They move on. If that team loses? They're in trouble.

We'll play double-elimination. If your favorite artist picks wrong this week, they may still have a fighting chance. No artist can pick the same team twice in a season. The last musician standing wins the league.

Follow along each week via Tennessean.com or in our weekly music newsletter, The Pick.
