Susan Hill ranks in the top 5 of women bowlers in St. George and last week she continued a red-hot scoring streak, notching a new career high with a near-700 series.

When Susan Hill brings her strike ball to the party it means a pyrotechnics show will be lighting up the scoring monitors. And when she gets on a really serious roll, the ball seemingly hits the 1-3 pocket with the impact of a Category 5 hurricane and uprooting all 10 pins on the pin deck.

And that's exactly what happened during the first game in Dixie Ten Pins League play after an open in the first frame, she began an electrifying run tattooing the pocket with 11 straight strikes in a season-high 279 gem.

Next, fueled by a combined 22 strikes in the following two games, a clean 236,  and a 181 with only one open, she finished a standout performance with a career-high 696 series.

And so it's not surprising just days later she continued a blistering scoring pace with a 634 series on games of 220, 213, 201 with 18 strikes, and exactly one day later in the Friday Senior League at Sunset Lanes she was at it again with 16 strikes in a 598 set, and giving her a total of 56 strikes thrown in a week of super bowling.

Hill is one of the marquee bowlers in St. George area women's bowling and brings an undeniable energy and competitive nature to the lanes that harkens back to her days as a softball pitcher on her high school softball team.

She's the proud mom of Dylan File who was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers, and this season is pitching for the Doosan Bears in Seoul, South Korea who play in the KBO League which has the highest level of baseball played in the country.

And in other pin action, Kathi Foy delivered the most impressive clutch performance of the week with a league championship on the line when she threw a total of 18 strikes, a clean season-high 243 along with games of 198 and 169 for a career-high 610 series in leading her team to win the championship of the Dixie Ten Pins League.

Meanwhile, Tami Olsen (592-226) flirted with a 600, Diana Stauffer delivered one of her best performances this season with a 590 set on Games of 202, 200 and 188 with 12 total strikes, and Hailey Bundy averaged 187 over six games in her two top league outings (567-198 & 558-205).

And in a similar fashion, Annette Chugg averaged 181 between her top two league outings (545-221 & 542-213), Peggy Eggleston (532-190) had a good week, Karen Foss demonstrated again just how mentally strong and tough she is in mowing down 512 pins, Shelly Hurst disposed of 507 pins, and Kathy Robbins  KO'd 506 pins.

In single game action, Autumn Telford (607) fired a 244, Ashley Thomas (607) booked a 235, Renee Swall logged a season-high 227, and PJ Redhouse (555) registered a 205.

In men's play, stoked by a sweet shot at both centers, Russ Harkins (761-267) threw 26 strikes in a humongous series that led all scoring, and propelled by 26 strikes, Rick Lesko (739-269) had his biggest scoring output this season, and Jeremy Turlington (708-259) continues piling up the 700s.

Skyler Moss (704-267) is doing a phenomenal job filling in for his dad, Larry, Jorge Grajeda (701-245) uncorked a top-notch effort, Blaine Hartley (691-237) just missed another 700, while Ron Floreani booked an impressive clean 691 series with 19 strikes, and Kyle Clark averaged 224 between Sunset (674-244) and Dixie (673-237).

And Tyler Mickelson is an impressive young bowler who tossed 22 strikes, including an 8-bagger in a clean 268 en route to a scintillating 670 series with only one open, Gary Lee (656-237) has the game to put up even bigger scores, Clarence Evans (617-219) put up some solid numbers, while Ron Hanson (604-225) was back in 600 territory, and Jerry Bundy's 601 included a 205.

In single game play, Robert Dickey (590) chucked a 290 beaut, Devin Werner (643) fired a 278, Jack Rasberry (611) tallied a season-high 263, while Dale Knight (614) posted a 258, and Fred Foerster (631) racked up a 256.

Oh, bay-bee!

Sean Matthews (147, 145, 145) and his positive energy narrowly missed triplicate 145 games ... Barb Flugrad is a 92-year-old bowler with a 142 average and picked up the 5-6 split.
