Susan Sarandon Lists NYC Duplex

New York City is full of buildings with history, but the next owners of one Chelsea apartment will be purchasing a piece of Hollywood history as well. The unit is a six-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom loft in a prewar building, and the seller is Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon.

The Thelma and Louise star is asking for $7.9 million for the 6,000-square-foot unit, which features a private elevator. It has a somewhat industrial feel, with exposed pipes and radiators, large columns, and an open floor plan, but it is also quite refined thanks to light wood flooring, white walls and ceilings, and an abundance of windows with views of various Manhattan landmarks. The Empire State building can be seen from the master bedroom, while the sixth bedroom, currently being used as a library, looks out at One World Trade Center.

Other unique features include a sunken lounge area, a mirrored wall in the living room, and a freestanding tub in one of the bedrooms. Interestingly, in 2017, Sarandon told AD that her first-ever New York City apartment also featured a bathtub that was separated from the rest of the facilities. “I lived in this place in the East Village, on and off, with a boyfriend. It was one of those places where the bathroom was in the hall and the bathtub was in the kitchen, so you'd go to the bathroom and run into someone you didn't know,” said the Feud star. “That was...difficult.”

Suffice it to say, while it is unclear where she intends to move from here, Sarandon has come a long way with her digs.
