That report, released in June, alleges financial mismanagement, poor business practices and lack of transparency by the board. Today's meeting was listed as closed session on the school district’s board meeting schedule, but there are several open session items on the agenda.
Among the open session items includes hiring Ryland School Business Consulting to provide general financial planning and business services to Stockton Unified. The contract would be at $175.00 an hour for no more than 20 hours a week for eight months. The agenda shows the business consultant would be paid from the general fund.
Stockton Unified held their first town hall on the grand jury report Aug. 4. To the disappointment of many who attended hoping for a two-way conversation, trustees and district administrators did not respond to any of the public’s comments.
