Suspect apprehended in connection with New Year’s Eve shots fired incident

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The suspect connected to a shots fired incident inside Parlays 2 in Virginia Beach was apprehended on Friday.

The VBPD Detective Bureau identified the suspect as 30-year-old Derrius Williams of Norfolk. Williams was successfully apprehended on Jan. 19 for charges including malicious wounding, discharging a firearm inside a building and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Officials say that on Dec. 31 at approximately 1:06 a.m., shots fired inside of Parlays 2, a club in the 500 block of Princess Anne Road were reported. Officers arrived on scene, but did not find any victims at the location.

Shortly after, a walk-in gunshot wound victim was connected to the incident. The victim was treated for his injuries and discharged.

Police say that the incident occurred due to a physical altercation at the club.
