Suspect arrested for 2021 shooting death of East Harlem teen

A young man accused of killing an 18-year-old in East Harlem last year was arrested Wednesday morning, police said.

Patrick Reid, 18, has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the Dec. 2, 2021, shooting death of Matthew Rivera, police said.

According to police, Rivera and Reid got into an argument inside a deli on E. 119 St. near Third Ave., and the dispute spilled out onto the street.

Reid then pulled out a gun and shot Rivera in the torso, police said. The victim rushed to Harlem Hospital, but could not be saved.

It is still unclear what lead to the fatal disagreement, police said.
