A suspect has been arrested and charged with the murder of Migos rapper Takeoff – real name: Kirshnik Khari Ball – who was killed on 1 November 2022 after gunfire broke out at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas.

Announcing the development in the investigation at a press conference on 2 December, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said that a 33-year-old man – Patrick Xavier Clark – had been arrested for the rapper's murder. Another man, Cameron Joshua, was also arrested for unlawful carrying of a weapon.

"The event was a private party, there was a lucrative dice game that went on at the event, there was an argument that happened afterwards outside the bowling alley which led to the shooting," said Sgt. Michael Burrow, who gave more details of how the night unfolded at the press conference.

"I can tell you that Takeoff was not involved in playing the dice game, he was not involved in the argument that happened outside, he was not armed. He was an innocent bystander."

Since his tragic death, tributes from fans and celebrity friends have flooded in for Migos. "So many prayers. God cover this family. Heartbreaking. Gone too soon. Devastating," Kylie Jenner wrote on social media as fellow musician Drake said: "I got the best memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touch. That’s what I’ll focus on for now - rest easy space man."

Our thoughts are with Takeoff's loved ones at this very sad time.
