Suspect arrested in January hotel shooting

(KRON) – The suspect from a shooting at a hotel in January was arrested, the San Jose Police Department announced Thursday.

San Jose patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of North 4th Street early morning on Jan. 30. The officers located a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Police said they rendered aid to the victim and summoned emergency medical personnel and summoned emergency medical personnel. The victim was transported to the local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim’s injuries were later stabilized and were downgraded to non-life-threatening.

San Jose Police Department Assaults Unit Detectives identified Fernando Macias as the primary suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On Feb. 13, Special Operations MERGE Unit officers located and arrested the suspect at a hotel in Santa Clara. The suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted homicide.

The motives of this incident are under investigation.
