(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s announced on Thursday morning that a home has been cleared after a multi-hour standoff between law enforcement and a barricaded suspect.

The sheriff’s office continued to say that all evacuees have been allowed to return to their homes and detectives will continue to investigate the matter.

Suspect from multi-hour standoff and CHP involved shooting in Sacramento arrested

A CHP officer pulled in front of a residence and was shot at by someone who fled into a home on Southland Way, the agency added.

CHP officers were able to develop some containment of the house where they saw the subject run into. Officers with the Rancho Cordova Police Department also responded and assisted with how to proceed.

Attempts to contact the suspect were unsuccessful as law enforcement called and texted the suspect, used PA announcements, and even threw cell phones into the home.

The sheriff’s office took over tactical command and implemented their “Rook” armored vehicle and was able to gain access to certain parts of the home and clear it.
