Suspect charged in fatal shooting of Peekskill man

PEEKSKILL - A suspect has been charged in the fatal shooting of a Peekskill man.

According to Peekskill city police, 53-year-old Ernest Wilson was shot Sunday night and died of his injuries Wednesday.

Police said they responded to 911 calls of shots fired in the area of Sherman Avenue and McKinley Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The first officers who arrived found Wilson with multiple gunshot wounds. They gave him immediate medical aid before he was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where he died of his injuries Wednesday.

Police said a suspect was developed early in the investigation. With the help of other law enforcement agencies, that suspect, Reginald McClure, 38, was located and arrested Wednesday evening. Police said the investigation revealed that the shooting was not a random incident, but have not disclosed further details about a motive.
