Suspect charged in Fourth of July stabbing that left woman hospitalized

GEORGETOWN TWP. — Police have released the name of the man charged in a July 4 stabbing that left a 30-year-old Georgetown Township woman seriously injured.

Justin Devries, 35, was arraigned Wednesday, July 6, on two felony counts, including assault with the intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, and felony assault.

His bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety, and he was remanded to the Ottawa County Jail.

When police and first responders arrived at the 100 block of Baldwin Street on July 4, in Georgetown Township, they found a 30-year-old woman with a puncture wound to her upper torso.

Police said she was stabilized at the scene and transported to a local hospital. She has since been released.

The sheriff's office continues to investigate the case.
