Suspect dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting 2 women in Sterling Heights, police say

Two women were shot in the parking lot of a closed Ruby Tuesday in Sterling Heights on Friday, police said in a news release. After fleeing the scene on foot, the suspect was later found dead in a nearby area from "what appears to be a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound."

The shooting took place at 35500 Van Dyke, stated the release. Police responded to the scene at approximately 1:15 p.m.

Both victims sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, Sterling Heights police said during a news conference, held before the suspect was found dead. "They are in stable condition at a local hospital," and police have been in contact with them.
