Suspect in four Okmulgee, Okla murders arrested in Florida

The suspect in the shooting and dismemberment of four men in Okmulgee, Okla. has been arrested in Florida, police reported Tuesday.

Joe Kennedy, of Okmulgee, was wanted in the deaths of Mark Chastain, 32, Billy Chastain, 30, Mike Sparks, 32, and Alex Stevens, 29, all of Okmulgee, who were reported missing by family members after the men went on bicycle rides Sunday and did not return.

Kennedy was arrested in Dayton Beach Shores, Florida. He was in a vehicle reported stolen from Okmulgee on Monday, said Police Chief Joe Prentice.

Police said Kennedy's PT Cruiser was found in Morris, Okla. on Monday.

Also, Kennedy had a warrant in connection with a 2012 shooting case.

"The district attorney and the sheriff will begin the process of getting Kennedy back to Okmulgee County. The murder investigation is ongoing and investigators continue to follow leads every day. Additional information will be relayed when it is available," Prentice reported.

Prentice said the remains of the men were found in the Deep Fork River during a span from Friday to Monday near the Sharp Road bridge.
