Suspect in multiple bank robberies arrested after striking again, deputies say

Orange County deputies say they’ve arrested a man who robbed a bank a day after getting out of prison for a previous bank robbery, but not before he was able to strike again.

According to the sheriff’s office, 59-year-old Timothy Paul Jones walked into the Truist Bank on S. Orange Blossom Trail just before 10 a.m. on June 2 and claimed to have a gun. Deputies say he robbed the bank then carjacked someone to get away.

Records show Jones had just been released from prison the previous day for another bank robbery in Orange County in 2013.

In that case, deputies say he walked into the Wells Fargo on S. Orange Blossom Trail and handed the teller a note demanding money. Jones ran from the bank but was seen getting onto a Lynx bus.

Deputies were able to stop the bus, remove the passengers and place Jones under arrest. He served eight years in prison and was released on June 1.

Jones was located and arrested Thursday after deputies say he robbed another bank in Kissimmee.

He’s facing another charge of armed bank robbery as well as carjacking.
