Suspect nabbed for stabbing to death Brooklyn neighbor who hoped to ‘move out of the projects’

A suspect has been nabbed for stabbing his Brooklyn neighbor to death, police said Thursday.

Marquis Shiloh, 33, was arrested Wednesday morning for manslaughter and weapon possession.

He allegedly killed Stephon Sinclair, 26, the night of July 12 outside the Tompkins Houses building on Park Ave. near Throop Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant where they both lived.

Sinclair, knifed multiple times in the legs, had stepped out to go to a store across the street and was returning home when he was confronted, his mother, Melanie Sinclair, 50, told the Daily News.

The victim was ambushed on the first floor, the attack continuing outside near the building’s parking lot.

“This hurts,” the mother said. “My son was a good kid. He didn’t deserve to die.”

She said her son was a hard worker, taking whatever job he could find since he was 14 so he could one day “move out of the projects.”

“It was the fear of something happening,” she added. “Stuff happens over here.”

Police said it’s not clear what sparked the slaying.

Shiloh’s arraignment was pending in Brooklyn Criminal Court Thursday. He has several prior arrests, including for driving with a suspended license. The other arrests are sealed.
