Suspect shot during attempted carjacking in Plum Orchard neighborhood

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The suspect in an attempted carjacking was shot in the Plum Orchard neighborhood on Friday, Jan. 26.

The New Orleans Police Department reported the victim was driving when 23-year-old Johnathan Edwards allegedly pulled on the door handle and told the victim to get out.

The victim shot Edwards multiple times. An ambulance arrived at the scene and took him to a hospital for treatment.

According to the NOPD, Edwards will be arrested and charged with first-degree robbery once he’s released.

The victim is not facing any charges.
