Suspected fireworks prompts active shooter scare at Florida Mall. No shots fired

Chaos erupted Saturday afternoon at the Florida Mall when people feared there was an active shooter inside the mall, according to accounts on social media.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said there was no shooting and the loud noise was suspected fireworks.

Reports on social media began surfacing about people running inside the mall around 4 p.m.

“Currently stuck in a storage room inside Florida mall during active shooting,” tweeted one person. “This is our new reality.”

Another person said he saw “a stampede of people running for the exit.”

“One person said they heard gunshots,” the person tweeted. “We are all clueless right now.”
