Juvenile shot near Marine Drive Apartments, retired BPD officer being questioned

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A retired Buffalo Police Department officer is being questioned in a shooting Thursday morning at the Marine Drive Apartments, police said.

Police said suspects were allegedly attempting to steal property from vehicles in the apartments’ parking lot around 7:30 a.m. when the individual shot one of the suspects in the leg. Law enforcement sources told News 4 that the retired officer who is being questioned is named Antonio Roman.

The juvenile who was shot was transported by ambulance to Oishei Children’s Hospital where he was taken into surgery.

The other suspects fled in a vehicle that is alleged to have been stolen out of Amherst. The alleged stolen vehicle was located a short time later unoccupied in Buffalo.

As of Thursday afternoon, no charges have been filed.
