Three people have been arrested in the murder of Shanan Lynn Read, a 33-year-old King County resident whose body was found in 2006 in the water near Manchester, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.

The suspects include three men, ages 34, 39 and 42. A fourth suspect, officials determined, had died in the years after the murder. The three suspects were arrested on Tuesday in Philadelphia; Sarasota, Florida; and Riverside, California.

All suspects remain in custody in their respective states. Each is held on a $10 million bail. They will eventually be transported to Washington state and booked into the Kitsap County Jail to face charges, the sheriff's office said in a press release on Thursday.

Read's headless body was found on Jan. 15, 2006. Two months later, Read's head was located in the vicinity of the initial discovery and was identified using fingerprint analysis.

The subsequent investigation determined that Read was struck by a metal baton in Seattle in August 2005. The suspects are accused of placing her into a plastic container and transporting her to a cabin in Port Orchard, where she is thought to have died. After several weeks at the cabin, suspects disposed of Read's body in January 2006 in the Puget Sound, between Blake Island and Manchester, according to the sheriff's office.

A fifth person, Michael Thomason, was later convicted of unlawful disposal of human remains, according to the press release.
